The CMS Library is a dynamic space where students are invited to read widely, think critically, create and share new ideas, and grow as dynamic, respectful, and digitally literate citizens. Students and staff have access to over 16,000 items that support curriculum and personal growth. A variety of subscription databases are available on school devices and at home; login information may be accessed in the library Canvas course. In TigerID, students can search the CMS library catalog using the Destiny app or find ebooks and audiobooks using the SORA app.
Middle school librarians support the integration of information literacy and technology skills across the curriculum by collaborating with teachers in various subject areas. Research skills are developed through projects that support and extend the subject area curriculum. Librarians also focus on developing student literacy by connecting students to quality literature through book talks, discussion groups, genre lessons, and various reading incentive programs and activities. Making each student a competent user of information and a lifelong reader is our goal. Currently, each middle school has a full-time librarian and a full-time library secretary.
